First Day in London

I left the US on the 4th of January, and after two long flights and a good nights sleep, I woke up in England. I arrived at the airport and started looking for my group. We had instructions where to meet and who to look for. I got there.... no group. Luckily I found two girls from my group and we tried to figure out our plan of action.

Unfortunately, the bus had left a half hour earlier than we had been told; leaving us stranded at the airport. "Hmmm..." I thought to myself, "what do my travel instincts, burned into my head by dad, tell me to do." I found the toll-free number for Arcadia, they told us where the hotel was, and the three of us took of in search of, first a train, but then a taxi. Later that day, one girl told me she was impressed by my TAKE-CHARGE ATTITUDE, thanks Dad.

The day passed with nothing too excitng. Orientation about no sex, no drugs, no rock and roll (not quite, but close). They mostly just reminded us, that whatever stupid things we did would be our fault and that we would have to pay the consequences.

Then I had my first British Night on the Town. A bunch of us from the group, went out to a Pub for dinner. One of the interesting things I had learned that night was that Pub was short for Public House. Anyone could go in there in the afternoon, and anyone over 18 after dark. They are usually open from 11-11. You can get food, beer, or even tea. Some people go there to study or even just to read the newspaper.

After dinner, I was tired out and still not sure what day it was as my body was getting used to the Jetlag. It was a great first day and I was ready for bed.
